New managers often find themselves in a transition from EMT or Paramedic
to supervisor overnight. Turning from a “blue shirt” to a “white shirt”
is a wonderful feeling, but too often organizations fail to provide the
necessary training and direction needed to make the jump. Becoming an
EMS supervisor or manager opens great opportunities, but traveling side
by side with opportunity is controversy. This 1 1/2-day workshop
provides a leadership and values based approach to becoming an effective
leader, manager, or for those in the fire service, an officer. We will
examine and discuss those “creatures which trip you up” ranging from
leadership philosophy, management techniques, HR, and time management
skills. This program is for new and seasoned supervisors/managers and
fire officers. Sometimes even veteran supervisors/managers find
themselves lacking the necessary skills to survive specific types of
incidents. This workshop offers something for everyone. Anyone who had a
badge handed to them and sent off to supervise and lead needs this
workshop.
