Most EMS personnel can relate to the very well known Diabetes Mellitus.
This presentation will briefly refresh EMS providers about Diabetes
Mellitus but will also challenge minds concerning this rare condition in
both pediatric and adult patients, Diabetes Insipidus.

F5: “WHAT IS PENUMBRA? STROKE CARE 2008” 1.5 Medical Emergencies

You have just encountered a possible stroke patient. You ask yourself,
what should I do first? How do I know it is a stroke? Is it too late
to reverse the damage? How do I do the right things in the right
order? This workshop will answer these critical questions. We will
provide practical advice on the care of stroke patients in an acute
setting. We will discuss designated stroke centers, and the latest
technology in diagnosing and treating stroke patients.

advocate, it is imperative to learn the process of bill creation,
crafting, and development. This session will discuss how a bill makes
its way through the legislature and becomes a law, and how it can fail.

“EMS RESPONSE TO THE I-35 W BRIDGE
COLLAPSE”

The successful emergency response to the collapse of the I-35W Bridge
Collapse in Minneapolis on August 1, 2007 resulted from widespread
participation of community volunteers and the coordinated efforts of
regional first response agencies. This presentation uses pictures and
sound clips to re-create the incident from the moments immediately after
the collapse and the initial emergency response through the rescue phase
and into the prolonged recovery period. There has been widespread praise
to the overall EMS response but, as in any large incident
